Partner - KPMG

Melissa is a Partner and Head of International Tax and Tax Policy for KPMG in the UK. She has extensive tax expertise and advises clients on their international tax issues. She takes a particular interest in KPMG’s graduate training and school leaver programme.  She graduated from Bristol University with a Geography degree, but is also a Chartered Tax Advisor (CTA) and affiliated member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants for England and Wales (ICAEW).

Melissa has previously been a governor at the Harris Academy Merton where she chaired the finance committee, and currently sits on the Board of British American Business; a trade body representing the UK’s interest in international trade and commerce with the US.

Melissa originally qualified as a Chartered Tax Advisor with KPMG. She moved into industry, working with Accenture in San Francisco in 2001, then with Standard Chartered Bank in London and Hong Kong until 2005 – specialising in tax strategy and M&A. Melissa re-joined KPMG in 2005 and was appointed KPMG’s youngest female equity Partner in 2008. She acted as lead tax partner to a number of global banks in addition to leading the Banking M&A Tax team in KPMG in the UK.

In 2014 Melissa became Global Head of Tax at GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) and was accountable for setting, directing and delivering on GSK’s worldwide tax strategy. During 2016 Melissa was also Acting Group Treasurer at GSK.

Melissa returned to KPMG in 2017 to lead the international tax group based in London. She leads the tax relationships with some of the firm’s most significant clients, advising on international and complex tax issues, tax governance, tax technology processes and reporting changes, transfer pricing and M&A.
